Multi-Store Magento Build – Our First Japanese Website

XTRONS are an existing client, specialising in innovative in-car entertainment solutions – we manage their ongoing web development as well as marketing across Facebook and Instagram, Google Ads and Mailchimp.

XTRONS have a multi-location-store Magento 2 site, this means that under a single eCommerce site, with a single product inventory, they have individual websites for each country they trade-in.

When we started working with XTRONS, they already had UK, US and AUS sites, all with their own locale-based shipping rules and currency. We helped them to create a German website, which involved a translation exercise across all products and site content, plus a design update to key pages such as homepage and product pages. Since launch, we’ve created a specific marketing campaign for the German market across all key channels, bringing this new channel in line with the brand’s presence and strategy internationally.

Next, XTRONS wanted to move a unique product inventory from an existing standalone Japan-based Magento site, across to the main site that we already manage – this would also mean creating a new, fully translated Japanese website.

We created a custom product page layout for the new site, that was designed to make the process of adding content and data to products easier for the client’s team in Japan. Using a custom attribute set we created a system where the client’s content team could add Japanese text to the existing product descriptions in their current site, keeping things as simple and familiar as possible. Then, once the updated descriptions were complete on the existing site, we could take an export and manage the import into the main site.

Following the product data migration task, with the assistance of the content team in Japan, we carried out updates to the site’s language pack as well as adding translated content across all pages of the site.

We are delighted to now have www.xtrons.co.jp live, making our client’s job of managing inventory and orders, that bit easier!
